Cabaret explores the Weimar Republic on the brink of the Nazi Party’s rise to power through the lens of a malleable American writer named Cliff. Cliff and especially the members of the Kit Kat Klub try to remain ignorant of the political situation around them choosing to party and galavant relentlessly. For this production, we chose to emphasize the grotesque, cheap, and seedy allure that the club has for Cliff while also creating a sense exposure and humanity in more realistic apartment and dressing room scenes.
